VOTE: Women Programme
About Course
VOTE: Women is a leadership springboard for women political aspirants and incumbents that leverage digital tools for women to follow their ambitions of civic leadership. Under VOTE: Women, Pollicy presents an opportunity to collaborate and co-create emerging and catalytic content that will ensure maximising the potential of digital skills for African leaders. The learning platform will focus on interactive content, peer learning and networking, mentorship and fundraising opportunities to build digital skills to power successful political campaigns and careers.
Without digital skills, women are missing out on the potential of the internet; new business, accessing or selling products to new markets, participation in the decision making process that affects their lives, finding, and accessing information from different sources. The digital gender divide has it that women have no access to the information needed to reap the benefits of digital transformation. The role of the media, governments, academic and civil society in bridging this divide is yet to be amplified with little coverage and resources dedicated to empowering women to understand the importance of technology.
At Pollicy, we are committed to women’s digital safety through our different approaches, engagement and knowledge products. A feminist internet in our definition entails a space where anyone can go on to explore, engage and enjoy the use of technology without harm. From where we stand, a feminist internet is only achievable if women leaders are able to themselves recognise the importance of a safe internet, are able to reap the benefits and opportunities afforded by digital platforms and can convene to push for progressive ICT policies in our countries. VOTE:Women strives to cut through the noise to put a strong focus on leadership with a lens on digital resiliency.
